Doors and windows are usually installed with sealing strips, which can seal against dust, water, and sound. However, many people don't know much about it, especially when it comes to installation.
Door and window sealing strips are mainly used in building decorative doors and windows such as plastic-steel doors and windows, aluminum alloy doors and windows, wooden doors and windows, and aluminum-coated doors and windows. The door and window seals on the market are generally extruded from PVC, modified PVC, EPDM, elastomer seals (including TPV, TPE, TPR, SEBS), silicone and other materials. According to the different uses, it can be divided into three categories: door leaf door cover sealing strip, wool strip, glass sealing strip (glue strip). Door leaf/sleeve sealing strip is mainly used for sealing between door panel and door frame, while top strip is mainly used for sealing between door frame and door leaf, and glass sealing strip is mainly used for sealing between glass, door leaf and frame.
Door and window sealing strip installation method
1. Glass gasket and sealing tape
Window frame and window sash should push the rubber strip into the profile slot with a little force with a special roller in the correct direction after welding the corners, and at the same time press the head of the rubber strip down until it is embedded in the profile slot. Since the rubber strip is an elastomer, it may shrink after being rolled.
The correct method is: when the rubber strip is installed at the joints at both ends, retract both ends of the rubber strip a little to the middle, leaving a shrinkage margin of 2-3 cm, and then cut it and insert it into the notch.
2. Glass bead
Manually insert the tip of the rubber strip into the profile groove according to the correct surface, and then press the exposed surface of the rubber strip firmly to press the rubber strip into the gap between the glass and the profile. The rubber strips at both ends are retracted a little to the middle, leaving a length of 1-2 cm, cut them off, and press them into the notches.
Precautions for the installation of door and window seals
1. Before installing the glass, carefully remove the sundries in the slot, such as mortar, brick chips, wood blocks, etc. When placing the glass, it should be carefully centered to ensure that the gap on both sides is even, and it should be corrected and fixed in time to prevent collision, displacement and deviation. Notch center.
2. The rubber sealing strip cannot be pulled too tightly, and the cutting length is 20-30mm longer than the assembly length. When installing, it should be inlaid in place, the surface should be straight, and it should be in close contact with the glass and the glass notch, so that the force around the glass is uniform. The rubber strip should be beveled off at the corners, and glued firmly at the break.
3. When fixing the glass with sealant, the glass should be squeezed with rubber strips or rubber blocks first, leaving a gap for glue injection. The glue injection depth should not be less than 5mm. Before the glue is cured, the glass should be kept free from vibration.
4. The installation site of the top is generally on the window (door) leaf, around the frame fan or on the sealing bridge (wind block) to enhance the seal between the frame and the fan.
5. The specification of tops is an important factor affecting the performance of sliding doors and windows and watertightness, and also an important factor affecting the opening and closing force of doors and windows. If the top size is too large or the vertical hair is too high, it is not only difficult to assemble, but also increases the movement resistance of doors and windows, especially the initial resistance when opening and the final in-position resistance when closing.
6. If the size is too small, or the height of the vertical top is not enough, it is easy to come out of the groove, which greatly reduces the sealing performance of doors and windows. Tops need to be siliconized. The tops with qualified quality have a straight surface, smooth bottom and vertical hairs, no bending, and no pitting on the bottom, which meets the 0.2mm requirement.
